Lucy wanted to become a mechanic because she loved motorsports. Lucy was introduced to motorsport at a young age by her grandpa, who builds and races his own classic automobiles. She was fortunate to attend races when she was younger and was always eager to assist in the garage. "I have always watched Formula 1, and as I got older, my interest in the sport grew and I began to watch more series' like Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4," Gould said. "I have always loved being busy and mechanics has always been a big interest of mine, so when I found The National College for Motorsport, it was a no brainer for me."

After just six weeks at The National College for Motorsport, Lucy was fortunate enough to receive an offer from Rodin Motorsport. "I was able to have access to Silverstone Circuit, with the college, on the Friday of a British F4 weekend," Lucy said. During this period, she used the opportunity to engage in conversations with various mechanics at the Rodin garage, from whom she obtained tons of great knowledge and valuable contacts. "I was offered a week of work experience with the team, in their factory in Surrey," Lucy said. "On the last day of my work experience, I was offered a job as a Number 2 Mechanic in F4."

"When it comes to race days, I will continue with my usual jobs as well as going to the grid with the Number 1 mechanics and preparing any equipment we may need for a pit stop."

"A lot of teams in Motorsport are very accommodating to those looking to gain more experience," Lucy said. "There are also more motorsport courses and degrees available now, covering multiple different roles in the industry such as engineering and mechanics."
